The Virginia Envirothon is a team based natural resources competition for high school students. Students who participate learn stewardship and management concepts and work to solve real world environmental problems. The program is field-oriented, community based and gives students an opportunity to work with natural resource professionals.

The District sponsors students to Forestry
Camp and Youth Conservation Camp. We also organize an environmental camp each summer.
Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences are offered
to all 6th grade students in both Buckingham and
Cumberland Counties.
Each year the District sponsors a poster
contest with a new theme. Great opportunity for K-12 students to win some
cash prizes! We also team up with Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts to offer a photo contest open to people of all ages.
The District offers a $1,000 scholarship
each year to a senior in Buckingham
County and a senior in Cumberland County. Click on the link above to find

Many of our programs and field trips are funded through a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund. Since 1992, revenues from sales of the Chesapeake Bay preservation license plate have been deposited into the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
